More Or Less?

To discover the reactions of others

I’ve occasionally noted over the years that this blog was created in 17 Oct 2010, when I was younger than I am now. My goals were not many, but I noted in my first post my fundamental rational for doing so in two paragraphs. Here they are:

“Despite the seemingly obvious reality that life takes place along the continuum between endpoints — a long expanse of grey between the black at one end and white at the other — there are many who insist that those in the middle lack the values and commitment essential to knowing right from wrong, good from bad. From here in the middle, those who make such assertions seem to be lacking both enlightenment and common sense, clinging to their ideologies and dogmas with passion and anger that defy reason. And they are quite willing to use misinformation and disinformation to overcome inconvenient reality.

As a life-long pragmatist who values critical thinking and the synthesis of intelligent assessment from a multitude of facts, it is not pleasing to witness the abundance of talking heads reducing complex issues to fabricated simplicity. Hence this blog. Blogs are far more for those who write them than those who read them given how many millions of blogs populate the Internet. I hope you find something of value in the accumulation of posts here.”

At first I was posting a blog every few days, probably the result of having much to say about many topics. Then in 2016 the rate of posts became somewhat lower, reducing more each year after that. I think I was responding to finding fewer topics that drove my enthusiasm that hadn’t already been discussed by me in a variety of ways. The posts went from several per week to eventually one every few months. My enthusiasm now seems to be for topics that appeal to me but which seem of less interest to many.

I am not ending my blog, but am only investing time and effort for topics that appeal to me — and perhaps also to some of you. Those of you reading either Tumblr or Medium editions of this blog will find occasional new entries every so often. You may enjoy them or choose to ignore them. My goal has always been to share my centrist, moderate, pragmatic approach to reality.

My goal has also always been two objectives. My blog content has always been primarily for me to work through concepts, ideas and insights. Posting content is to share my work, of course, but also to discover the reactions of others. I’ve never expected readers to always or even often agree with me. What matters — to me — is that insight and wisdom be shared for the greater good. The “greater good” is only widely possible within a centrist-driven populace. A simple concept in a complicated world.

I’m not going away any time soon, but I am taking a more balanced approach to how I spend my time. Less effort on pragmatism and more on enjoying quality of life. We should all include quality of life in our daily existence. Relaxing with quality earpods listening to Pink Floyd will suit me nicely. I’ll be back every so often with a blog post. Cheers!!!
